Matsuura You
Frankly, I don't see how every girl falls for this guy at first sight just by looking at him. This is the one picture of You, in my opinion that is actually nice looking. But those other pictures, mainly the colored ones, he just doesn't seem "handsome" to me like he's suppoused to be. Maybe it's the 80's hairstyle (if you noticed, Ben Seaver from Growing Pains had the same hairstyle) or maybe it's his dark eyebrows that doesn't really go very well with his full head of blond hair. Oh well, it doesn't matter. But all the girls are always throwing themselves at him because of his "beautiful" face, which I just don't see. To me, You is beautiful inside (Arimi told Miki that she fell in love with him not because of his looks, like Suzu and Jinny and the rest of Toryo and Segaki Academy girls had done but because of his personality), although he hid that side of him very well in the beginning, where he always stayed aloof and emotionless. But when he and Miki confessed their love to each other that day on that beach, most of his wall cracked and became the person that is totally devoted, understanding and affectionate. He never fails to make Miki smile and wipe all her worry and tears away. Yet, he's still not perfect. He still hides most of his feelings and sometimes he doesn't show it enough making Miki fill up with worry and even heatbroken. When he left her a second time because he found out their parent's deep, dark secret, he left her all in a tormoil. He was so used to keeping things inside and hiding in a false facade that he just didn't know what he was doing to his own girlfriend. In the end though, he starts to trust and be more open. He, like Miki, grows up. I'm
not a very big fan of You. I do like his devotion to Miki. He fell in love with her from the first time he laid eyes on her and it was Miki and only Miki all through out the entire series (If only Miki was that stong). But he should have been more open to Miki from
the very beginning though. Sure, many things had shattered his spirit in the
past but he can't just keep it inside for so long and not even noticing
that the more he stays quiet the more he hurts her.
