From
the very start, Ryouko had feelings for Shinichi. When she dated
Kijima Takuji in high school, Ryouko was in love with Shinichi.
It's sort of like the You, Miki, and Ginta triangle only different (because of their personalities).
Kijima knew her feelings for their friend and told her, even
encouraging her to tell Shinichi how she really felt about him
and to be honest with her feelings. But Ryouko couldn't find enough
nerve to actually confess to him. And when she did tell him how
she felt it was too late. Shinichi already loved Meiko...
Ryouko's
character is a very strong woman. The very opposite of the Miki
character in so many ways. And no matter how many times, Shinichi
has somewhat broken her heart, she still kept her head high. Not
once did she break down and cry for all the things that were happening
to her and around her (especially those Hiroshima scenes). Until
Takuji told her that it was OK to cry and to let it all out. And
when she finally did what he said, it's one of the most emotional
moments of Maramalde Boy. And it was done very realistically,
especially when she remembers all the memories she had in high
school with Takuji and Shinichi. You really feel for her. And
it's one of those "If only" moments that we all get
sometimes. ~If only she had told Shinichi her feelings earlier
on. If only he realized how she felt. If only this and if only
that...~
After
witnessing the kiss between Shinichi and Meiko, which played several
times in her head, she finally found someone that appreciated
her and noticed her right from the start and took her loneliness,
that she must have felt for the longest time, away. And we finally
see a much happier, Ryouko.
Ryouko
is the women's tennis coach and is also a teacher. She has basically
been with Shinichi for most of her life. She's a very understanding
character also, helping and encouraging Meiko with her writing
and looking out for her as a favor for Shinichi.
She's
one of my favorite characters because of her personality. She's
a smart, strong, and soft spoken woman. Her only true fault is
how she kept her feelings inside, trying too hard to be a little
'Miss Perfect' on the outside, like Takuji had told her..
