Kitahara Anju
Anju and You had met each other five years before when they were in 6th grade. On that year, You was feeling depressed because of the news he discovered about his father not really being his father. Anju met him in the woods where he was feeling all sad and she hit him on the head with a book because she didn't know what else to do. Because of that, she made him laugh and made him feel much, much better and they became best friends. And after that, they sort of went their separate ways. When they meet again at the train station 5 years later, You introduces Anju to Miki as only, 'An'. An also has her eyes set on You. But unlike all the other girls that are after him, I can understand her reasons. |

Like the Americans and Ryouko, Anju only exists in the anime and is one of the more liked characters of the show. She's very sweet and very nice. You can't really hate her. You fell sorry for her more than anything else. Anju has a heart condition that has been giving her problems since childhood. She was so sick that doctors only gave her a 50% chance of actually surving surgery. And because of her sickness she leaves the show for awhile to go to America to try out another form of surgery to help her live longer. While there in New York, she meets You again where the love triangle of Anju, You and Jinny begins. Anju however, is not aggressive like Jinny. She knows that You already has a very nice girlfriend and she knows that she shouldn't interfere. Bill tells her many times that she should really tell You her feelings, especially when Miki and You had broken up but Anju doesn't really have the confidence to tell him. She told him once before already anyway. Anju is a nice character. She sort of reminds me of Ami from Sailor Moon. And she's very soft spoken and kind. It was a little disappointing that she didn't end up with anyone in the end. She's too good a person to be alone. But it seemed that there might be something there with her and Michael. ~Although, I do like her with Bill much better because they share common personalities. After all, he did ask her out on a date~ |
