Yoshizumi Wataru

Birthdate: June 18, 1963
Blood Type: A
Astrological Sign: Gemini(Like You)
Other Works:
Radical Romance, Quartet Game, Handsome Girlfriend, Kimishika Iranai, Mintna Bokura, and Random Walk

Yoshizumi Wataru's first works before Marmalade Boy was Radical Romance, Quartet Game (a story about 4 students in a music school) and Handsome Girlfriend (a story about a young model) which also spawned a short OVA. Mio, the title character even showed up in Marmalade Boy, both in the manga and the anime.

~It was when Ginta and Miki were talking about the commercial Mio was in, where she was selling candy that tastes like a "kiss". This of course, lead to the infamous Ginta and Miki kiss.

After Marmalade Boy, she wrote a short 2 manga volume story called "Kimishika Iranai" which means, "I Don't Need Anyone But You". I like to think of it as a Ginta and Arimi story only in another time and place because the main characters, Akane and Atsumu look almost EXACTLY like Ginta and Arimi.

The story is pretty interesting. It's like Marmalade Boy only more twisted. Akane is the new girl in the high-school and Atsumu (the main character) instantly likes her. He wants to tell her his feelings but was shy at first. When he finally does decide to tell her though, he finds out that she was once married for three months and is now divorced. Quite a shock, considering both he and Akane are only 16. I wonder if she used Ginta and Arimi as models. She did write, that Akane was "cute like Arimi"... See the similarities?

Yoshizumi-sama's most recent works are Mintna bokura and Random Walk. Random Walk, I believe is still running in Ribon.
