Marmalade Boy is a story about a girl, who one day in an exchange diary she shares with her best friend, wrote that nothing great ever happens to her.... But she was about to eat her words.

Her parents, after serving her tea and cake in their fine china tell her that they are getting a divorce rather happily and are swapping partners and getting married to another couple they had met in Hawaii. The girl was quite shocked and was even more shocked when she met the other couple and knew that they were very serious about doing something so strange. She was then told that this other couple had a son her age and right when he appeared before her, she was instantly in love. He was sooo... beautiful and coool....

The girl however was quite annoyed by the boy because though he was beautiful, he always teased her.... but for obvious reasons, she started to have feelings for the boy and when her best male friend saw what was going on, he revealed that he had feelings for her.

The girl did not know what to do... Who should she pick? The boy that suddenly came into her life and gave her a "breath of fresh air" or her friend that always stood by her?

And it gets more complicated from there because the boy's old girlfriend comes in to make the girl even more uneasy and she was taking her best male friend away. She doesn't want her friend to go... What should she do? She loves them both...

But her life isn't the only focus of the story... Her other best friend has a very deep dark secret, then there's a boy that has an unrequited love for a girl for several years, there's another boy in love with her best friend, there are girls everywhere pining for the boy's affections and much, much, more...

There are many love triangles, squares, etc... in Marmalade Boy. Many happy, funny and heartbreaking moments as well. It's a story that pulls you in from the very start. The music helps the story too, always coming in at the right moments.

"Yume ja nai yume ja nai no aa mou..."
"It's not a dream. Ah, it's not a dream any more.
We've never done more than kiss before now.
Don't let go."

Marmalade Boy aired in Japan from 1994 to 1995 and spanned three seasons. It was a show that was a bit different from anything that was on the air during those years because of its many love triangles and its many, many kissing scenes. It was the first show to show all kinds of scenes with that kind of affection. Because of that, Toei was a bit worried about how this kind of Shoujo anime would appeal to the audience. To their surprise Marmalade Boy became a hit, getting high ratings even when it aired on Sundays at 8:30 in the morning and not on Prime Time like other popular Anime way back when.

Sometimes the name of Matsuura You's name is spelled "Yuu". The translators of MB, Tomodachi uses the "Yuu" spelling so it won't get confused with the English word "you". I'm a little different from other sites because although his name IS confusing because of it's English meaning, it's the way Yoshizumi-sama romantasized his name. It's spelled "You" in the manga, the artbooks, the trading cards, the various merchandise, and the Japanese posters so I'll spell it like she wanted to spell it. I'm pretty sure you won't get confused anyway. Well at least hopefully not ^_^

Autumn Crescendo was created on January 26, 2001. The site got its name from Kareha Iro no Crescendo, the 2nd season ending song and my favorite. There are a lot more Marmalade Boy songs that I love but this one is the best. I love the images of the ending also with You walking down a tree lined street where autumn leaves are falling all around him and he's there to meet up with Mki in the end. So very romantic and cute. And Mizushima Yasuhiro has such a very soulful and beautiful voice. Ahh... I love it. ^_^
